ABOUT TARA HUNT

Tara Hunt is a Charlotte, North Carolina–based contemporary artist whose work explores the restorative power of nature through luminous seascapes, landscapes, and fluid ink compositions. Working in both oil and alcohol ink, she creates immersive environments that invite stillness, reflection, and emotional connection.

Her process is rooted in the balance between control and surrender. In her oil paintings, she builds layered depth and atmosphere, capturing fleeting light across coastal horizons and mountain landscapes. In contrast, her fluid ink work embraces movement and unpredictability, allowing pigment to flow organically—echoing ocean currents, tidal rhythms, and the quiet energy of the natural world. Though distinct in technique, both mediums are unified by a singular intention: to create a sense of calm within the viewer.

Drawing inspiration from North Carolina’s coastline and mountains, Hunt’s work reflects themes of resilience, renewal, and the enduring relationship between people and place. Her paintings often evoke what she describes as a “visual sanctuary”—spaces where light emerges from darkness, and where viewers can pause, breathe, and reconnect.

At a time when the pace of modern life can feel overwhelming, her work offers a counterbalance: a moment of quiet immersion. Whether through the atmospheric depth of oil landscapes or the ethereal translucence of alcohol ink, each piece is designed to bring a sense of peace, grounding, and subtle movement into the spaces it inhabits.

Hunt’s work resonates with collectors and curators seeking contemporary landscape and ocean-inspired art that not only captures the beauty of the natural world, but also its capacity to heal and restore.
