"Nice is nice" is a very special piece. It was completed the summer of 2024 when my husband had quadruple bypass surgery. As a couple we found ourselves in the position to come to grips with loss and change, the loss of our lives the way we knew it and the change to our lives that would inevitably happen. My husband survived, but the summer trips we planned were replaced with cardiac therapy and money struggles. Throughout this experience, I captured the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. The miniature sun-bathers represent examples of relaxing, playing, and enjoyment. Adding new bathers helped to offset the extreme opposite life I was living. The result is a glorious representation of a joyous bucket list location.
