Description: Reflections of Emerald Isle captures the luminous beauty of North Carolina’s coast—emerald waters lapping against soft white sands beneath an ever-shifting sky. Painted during a season of deep personal and collective change, the piece reflects both the devastation of Hurricane Helene and my family’s own trials through my husband’s illness. In longing for health and renewal, I returned through memory to sunlit days spent wading through sandbars and laughing in the surf. Each brushstroke became an act of hope and remembrance, a way to preserve what time and tide can so easily erase. As our coastline continues to erode, this painting stands as both a love letter and a lament—a reminder of nature’s fragile beauty, and of the fleeting, precious moments that shape our lives.
